Rug Hooking Studio

One of the crafts I have not tried is rug hooking. Apparently my grandmother hooked lovely rugs but unfortunately I've never seen one. Yesterday, during a visit to Mahone Bay, Novel Scotia, I visited Encompassing Designs Rug Hooking Studio. This studio is owned by Christine Little. Christine also designs her own patterns for hooking.

The shop has all the supplies plus patterns to do hooked rugs. Yarn is dyed on site so if you need a specific shade of yarn, they can supply it. They provide mail order for those out of town and out of province customers.

Greeters at the door!

  1. I hooked rugs back in the 70's. It was a good handcraft, but really didn't "hook" me.
So, did you buy any supplies?

    1. Thanks, for commenting, Carol. No, I didn't purchase anything at this shop but there were great supplies for rug hookers. They do mail order.

  2. Way back when (before there was dirt) I took a night school class that covered various forms of craft and rug hooking was one of them. I've never done any since but not because I didn't like it.

    1. I've never done any rug hooking. However, classes are offered in Newfoundland but I've never bothered. I have too many other things I enjoy doing instead.
