Stitching A Canadian Memory

The theme for the 2017 Trend-Tex Challenge, at Quilt Canada, was Stitching A Canadian Memory. Trend-Tex donated these beautiful fabrics to be used in the challenge. It is interesting to see how these were used in each of the quilted pieces. The winners have been listed on the CQA web site and photos of all the entries can be found HERE. Grab a cup of something and enjoy the wall hangings and bags.

Today's post contains a few bits and pieces.

First thing, I would like to congratulate all the winners at Quilt Canada, especially Elaine Quehl for winning Teacher of the Year! I had the opportunity to take a class from Elaine, here in St. John's, a few years ago. She had a trunk show showing some of her amazing art quilts. Quilt Shows

Once in a while, photos get posted of various local quilt shows. Thistle Quilt Guild, Westville, Nova Scotia, is one of them. Check out these two sites for their show photos:

Quilt Canada 2014, Canadian Quilters' Association (CQA), will be held next week, June 11 - 14, at St. Catharines, Ontario. If you can, this is a venue to check out.

The Running Stitch

I dropped by The Running Stitch Quilt Shop the other day. It's a quilter's dream with beautiful batiks and cottons, patterns, notions, quilted bags and accessories. I was admiring several of the quilted pieces on display when the sales lady told me that the designer of those quilts, Beth Cameron, was shopping in the store. Of course I couldn't let that opportunity pass by, so I introduced myself.  One of the quilts (actually it's twin), was in this year's Quilt Canada in Nova Scotia. I was drawn to her work because of the bright colours she uses. Check out one of the quilts that caught my eye at the shop HERE (scroll down - it's the one with the colourful sail boats). You can purchase the pattern / kit for the sail boat wall hanging at the shop. Beth is working on her own website and hopes to have it up and running in another few weeks. She hopes to have photo's of her work posted as soon as possible.

2012 National Juried Show

Photos of the 2012 NJS winning quilted pieces are finally published. What a spectacular display of quilts!

Quilt Canada, NS, 2012

This is the Quilt Canada 2012, Seams Like Home, weekend, Halifax, Nova Scotia. It will probably be awhile before we see photos of the National Juried Show (NJS) quilts. However, I did find Scrapmaster, a blog from Nova Scotia. There you will find some photos of the quilts from the Mayflower Quilters. Scroll down a bit further and you will see some of the Trend-Tex Challenge entries to Quilt Canada and the Miniature Challenge.

On the Quilt Canada site you can view the winners to the Trend-Tex Challenge HERE and there is a list of the National Juried Show winners HERE (no photos yet).

Canadian Quilters' Association - Quilt Canada 2011

This year, Quilt Canada was held in London, Ontario. Ninety-four quilted pieces were juried into the show. To see the winners, go here. See the Trend-Tex Quilters Challenge here.
Quilt Canada 2012, Seams Like Home,  will be held in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
