Squash Squad: Sue Spargo's Stitch Along on Instagram

Yesterday was the first day of Squash Squad, another of Sue Spargo's Stitch Alongs on Instagram. This is my progress so far. The metallic braid, by Kreinik, is couched on the squash with Valandi #8 perle cotton, colour 18. The chain stitch on the stem is Valandi O154.

Hopefully, I'll get the vine and leaf stitched tomorrow as well as playing catch-up!

Enjoy!!

Pendants & More. . .

These three oval pendants were finally finished. They will be going to the Espanola Fibre Arts Festival this weekend. If you are going to this event, please drop by the vendor's market on Saturday. I'll be there.

These gorgeous colours greeted me today at the post box. Definite possibilities for hand / free motion embroidery or small landscapes. The middle pendant mirrors the autumn colours below.

Autumn Splendor!

A few photos for inspiration - in quilting and stitching. I take lots of photos and sometimes one of them inspires a new piece of work.

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving and Other Stuff

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving to all my relatives and friends, near and far. The rest of our belongings arrived today so we are officially moved to Pine Grove, Nova Scotia. Our house in St. John's, NL is now for sale.

I took a drive to Mahone Bay yesterday afternoon. It's 16.5 km from my house along a country road. The fall colours are gorgeous! I love summer  but autumn foliage wins. I stopped a couple of times to take photos but the road is narrow with hardly any shoulder for parking.

A new book store just opened up in Mahone Bay called An Novel Idea. This bookstore caters to book lovers and writers. They carry a diverse selection of books, stationery products, and unique literary gifts.

The Mahone Bay Scarecrow Festival was last weekend but the scarecrows will be on display for most of the month. Check HERE for the photos I posted last year. Here's a couple from this year:

Someone stole the 3 little pigs from the mamma pig!

Enjoy!!

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! I am so thankful to finally be here in Nova Scotia and so close to family. It makes everything worthwhile especially when my 6 year old granddaughter says she so glad we moved close to her.

The leavings are starting to turn those beautiful fall colours. Here's a view from the back deck.

That's the end of two car garage on the side.
I also visited a local farm to get vegetables for out thanksgiving meal. Aren't these pumpkins just gorgeous!

Guess where we were today?
What a fantastic place to visit. We had no difficulty finding a parking space at the end of the building. I will be going back there again when things get unpacked at home.

Enjoy!
