There were quite a few patterns listed on Facebook and blogs the last couple of days, so I decided to list some here.

• I know this one is from 2015, but patterns are good anytime. These are the Top 10 Sew Can She Tutorials for 2015. There's tons of stuff on this site! Check out the Picnic Tote free sewing pattern. I do like this shape for a tote. 
• Patchwork Posse has 33 Cute Lunch Bags You Can Sew. But these may also be used for other things too.
• Stitch by Stitch has a Fabric Book Cover Tutorial

Here's a Journal Cover I made a few years ago.

Student Work - Finished!

A couple weeks ago I taught my Fantastic Fabrics Workshop. It was a great day. In fact, I have to do another one on a weekend in May, to accommodate those who couldn't attend this one. Here are a few of the completed projects made from the workshop fabric. I provided the template for my Credit Card Holders and several students completed some from their fabric.

Book Covers

The last couple of days, I've been making new book covers for Devon House Craft Shop. (See them below). I use mainly batiks as they have such vibrant colours. With Totally Stable stabilizer / interfacing ironed onto the back, this fabric takes well to free motion stitching. The fish, flowers and puffin are from my machine embroidery collection (original designs). These designs are part of my wearable art pieces.

More Journal Book Covers

I finally finished all the journal book covers. You can see the previous ones here. Looking at my photos, the little yellow house and red bird are there twice. So much for trying to be careful!! The other photo shows some of the batiks I used. If you click on the fabric photo, you will see the free motion stitching I did using the Rainbow threads. These journal covers can be purchased at Devon House Craft Shop, Craft Council of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Here's some of the journal covers I've completed this past weekend. I use only batik fabrics which I embellish with Rainbow Superior Threads. I just love the way these threads stitch and look on the fabrics. One of the things I like about the plastic spool is the cut edge to catch the thread end so it doesn't unravel (see photo below). Note Book Cover

Here is my latest note book cover. It's 4 1/2" x 6". A friend is having a birthday and she's into shoes big time!

The shoe is made from some left over 'fantastic' fabric that's bonded to the background and then satin stitched around.

Journal Covers

I decided to make a cover for a journal a couple of days ago. This one is quite small as I want it to fit in a purse. It is similar to the ones shown here with my fantasy fish. I did find a few sites with journal covers.

• There is a simple journal cover tutorial on the Bloom blog.

• All People Quilt has video for Jazzing Up Your Journal Cover. They also have lots of free patterns and projects.

• If you want to have a place for a pen or pencil with your cover, check out this one. Even though the free pattern isn't available anymore, the picture is helpful. You just have to be a bit creative!

• The Craft Blog has a notebook cover tutorial and so does Creative Chicks and Sew Useful Designs.
