Snowmen
It was 10C here today - wonder of wonders! I even saw a runner on the street in shorts and T-shirt. We have no snow (thank goodness) as I'm not a winter person. However, I found a few sites all about snowmen!!! Ironic, I know!!

One More Day . . .
Another fabulous day at the Christmas Craft Fair! Tomorrow is the last day.
This year, I decided to display one of my larger pieces, View From The Rooms, to let customers know that I create more than Christmas items. Lots of great comments - several from other prominent Newfoundland artists. Needless to say, I was very pleased.
Thanks to everyone who stopped by my booth the last few days.
The snowflakes and felted mittens were very popular. I will have to make more of these for the Anna Templeton Tea & Sale next month.

A Bit of This & That
Today is sunny but brrrrrrr at -10 C! Yesterday it was +10 C. So much for weather in Newfoundland. It can change in the 'wink of an eye' or is it 'blink of an eye"? Whatever! I could write a book on all the changes I make to some of the odd sayings. Changes I don't even realize I've made until someone points it out or it suddenly comes to me that I did it again!
Anyway . . . a good friend was in Scotland this summer and visited The Great Tapestry of Scotland. To quote her "It took my breath away"! The tapestry consists of 160 panels (not connected) and is 143 metres long when put side by side. It's worth a visit to the link above. Be prepared to sit awhile, so get a cup of something to keep you company.
Next, Mary Corbet kindly offered a lovely Christmas Tree pattern to embroider. I did print it out. However, it will be added to my future 'to do list'. Also check out Mary's free embroidery patterns.
The Inspired Wren has a tutorial on making felted Christmas ornaments. It is quite nice and easy to make in felt or paper. Lots of other great tutorials on this site too.
Want to make Christmas Crackers? Go HERE. They can be made in either fabric or paper.
Sew Can She has lots of nice things to make. I like the shark pencil case. Why? My little granddaughter just got a pair of shark slippers from Costco (Chicago) and was delighted to show them to me via Skype!
The Christmas Ornaments from The Red Brolly are just lovely. More 'stuff' to add to my 'to do list'!

New Needle Felted Art Cards
This is a busy time of year for those of us who produce certain items for the wholesale market. I create unique products that are very affordable and small enough to mail in an envelope.
- My greeting cards are digital prints made from original textile-based art.
- The art cards are images constructed by using various combinations of needle felting, hand / machine stitching, and / or painting, then attached to a card.
- Shimmer Ornaments consist of a variety of images stitched onto a hand constructed, translucent background with machine embroidery outlines and details. These can be designed to be site specific.
- Felted ornaments are constructed from a variety of needle felted yarns.
- Wearable Art Pins consist of a wide variety of images constructed on a hand layered background that I call 'fantasy fabric'. They consist of a variety of decorative yarns, glittery threads and fabrics, tulle and lame with machine embroidered details and outlines.

Happy New Year's Eve!
What a difference a year makes! Last December was a mild one with very little snow. In fact, we had a green Christmas. This year, winter started very early with piles of snow and very cold temperatures. The thermometer below shows one of the very few days that was above freezing.
I am looking forward to 2014 and all that it will bring. Last March, I decided to go wholesale with some of my small production art work (Shimmer Ornaments, Wearable Art Pins, Art Cards, Felted Ornaments and Greeting Cards). It was a big step for me to take as I had been resisting it for many years. However, it has opened up other opportunities. I was invited to the Atlantic Trade Show (ACTS) in Halifax so I will be going there the end of January. Then, the local wholesale show is in March.
Production work is taking up much of my time at the moment but I'm hoping to set aside some time to experiment with more surface embellishments. I have some copper wire that I want to play with as well as a small gel printing plate for fabric printing. My yarn stash is overflowing and my wool roving needs attention. I have a few new toys to play with in my studio! Who knows where all that will lead.
