Get The Scoop

Today, my daughter, Jill, and I took a trek to Mahone Bay. Twelve of Jill's curated pieces are gracing the walls of Get The Scoop. This Ice cream shop has the best homemade ice cream in town and Jill's art work certainly livens up the place! There will be FREE ICE CREAM for everyone who buys a piece of her art. How sweet is that!

NEW to the shop is their Sweet Boutique - kitchen & cottage ware. They are also carrying the delectable Peace by Chocolate chocolates. AND of course, these delicious flavors of ice cream. The flavors change daily.

Snow Happens # 2

Over the winter, I have been working on my 2nd Snow Happens hand embroidery piece. I gave the first one to my sister for Christmas. Last evening, I decided to stitch the sign in a variegated red floss. I'm considering using some silver threads eventually. At the moment, it's going to sit on a shelf until my studio is up and running.

Here's the first one that Joan now has:

From 2008: In All Its Glory

Easter has silently crept upon me! Yesterday, I realized that it's next weekend. Where does the time fly. I wonder how many of you have all your Easter Projects finished and in use? Me, I don't have anything to put out at the moment. With no studio yet and most things still in boxes, I'm managing to keeping up with production orders and not much else. I am chief gopher for studio renovations which is important.

I posted this textile seascape, In All Its Glory, on Instagram and FaceBook today:

Flash Back to 2014

I started creating these Fibre Art Pendants in 2014. They have been a popular item at the fairs I've attended and the shops in Newfoundland that carry them. Each one is a miniature one-of-a-kind piece of art.

Last October, during the Espanola Fibre Art Festival, Northern Ontario, I taught two classes on making these pendants, at. It was a great experience!

Elaine Quehl and Patchwork Sitges 2018

Today's post is actually from a Face Book post written by Elaine Quehl, Canadian quilt artist, teacher, dyer and designer. Elaine was recently in Spain, attending the Sitges Patchwork Festival, where she taught a couple of classes and had a collection of her work on display.

Elaine wrote: Patchwork Sitges 2018 photos are up on a Flickr site. You can see images of the entire Festival here. My work is on page 5 and 8, and my workshops are on page 7 and 8.

You can view over  900 photos HERE.

Elaine has also posted photos of the installation of her work at the festival, and much more so please visit her blog. I took a class from Elaine a few years ago in St. John's, NL. It was a very enjoyable class to take. If you get a chance to take a class from Elaine and to see her work in person, do so!

I hope you enjoy all 910 of the photos.
