Thank You and Other Stuff!

I'm overwhelmed by the number of views my posts are generating lately. Thanks so much! It's much appreciated.

I'm having a stay at home day (in the motor home that is). My granddaughter, Gale, is a bit under the weather and just wants to lie around but I'll bet she'll be at my side when I take out some stitching. A couple days ago she asked to work on her rainbow stitching. This project was her own idea. The rainbow is straight not curved as she told me it was her own 'design'. Yes, she used that word! She also has a specific order for the colours. Her other comment, 'Grandma, isn't this so relaxing!' Her mom said that she likes the process of creating. In any case, she likes all things related to fibre and textiles.

I will show you her work when it's finished. Bet you can't guess I'm a proud grandma (GRIN)!

Here's a few sites to visit:
I'm having great internet today!

July Birthday Gift!

Last year I made a sewing kit for myself from some of my 'fantastic' fabric. If you recall, I gave it to my sister for Christmas. Read about that on the link above.

My birthday was mid July, so my friend, Marilyn, gave me my own sewing wallet. Thank you so much. I do love oriental fabrics! Don't you just love the closure 'button' that she made?

It was partially filled when I took this photo!

12 Days of Christmas in July Blog Hop

Since the internet has been working well tonight at the campground, I did a bit of blog reading. I realize I'm a few days late in finding this 12 Days of Christmas in July Blog Hop, but I'm sure you won't mind! Lots of interesting projects to see. In fact, you might find the perfect one for your next fall project.

Enjoy!!

As Promised . . .

I'm having a great internet moment! (GRIN). It seems to be working well.
As promised, here's Gale's needle felted piece. It does need further stitching with the sewing machine using a sparkly thread and ironed to flatten it out. That will happen the next time I need to keep her busy!

Felting With a Five Year Old

Our internet connection at the campground has been pathetic! Hit or miss most of the time. Thank goodness for relatives even if they are over an hour away from where we are staying. AND I did have some awesome lobster for lunch!! Worth the trip.

Now to back track: I did some felting with Gale, my five year old granddaughter last week. We used the felt I purchased at the Lunenberg Makery (see previous post). She did a great job. I forgot to take a photo of the finished piece but will post it next time.

She certainly enjoyed pulling the wool roving apart and stepping on the pedal of the felting machine. She wants to do some more this week in between swimming and going to the playground!

The Lunenburg Makery

Yesterday, I made a visit to The Lunenburg Makery here in Nova Scotia. I was also there last summer. Check HERE for my previous post about this shop. Of course, I did make a purchase of wool roving to use in my work. Aren't the colours gorgeous! These felt up beautifully. Since I brought my felting machine with me this year, I will be using them soon.

We also had unexpected visitors to the Motor Home.

It's Raining, It's Pouring . . .

Perfect World - Clip Art: Seasons

It's raining,
It's pouring,
The old man is snoring!!

Do you remember that old nursery rhyme?

Well, at the moment, it's pouring rain here in Bridgewater, NS. That nursery rhyme just popped into my head. Funny about that. The province needs the water so I guess I'd better not complain.

So, some rainy day projects are in order:
Have fun!! (in the sun hopefully)

Happy Canada Day

Happy Canada Day!

I would like to extend a Happy Canada Day to all my relatives and friends living outside this wonderful country of ours and to those of us who live here!
Enjoy your day wherever you are.

Yesterday, I gave a flag to my granddaughter, who just moved to Canada from Chicago.
She was very excited and said she was soooo glad to be in Canada! We are soooo glad to have her and her parents here too.
