Easter has silently crept upon me! Yesterday, I realized that it's next weekend. Where does the time fly. I wonder how many of you have all your Easter Projects finished and in use? Me, I don't have anything to put out at the moment. With no studio yet and most things still in boxes, I'm managing to keeping up with production orders and not much else. I am chief gopher for studio renovations which is important.

Making Memories!

I hope you had a great Sunday and spent it with family and friends. Lots of CHOCOLATE?

My goal with this blog is not to present personal 'stuff'. However, I'm going to ignore that for once. The important thing in life is making memories and I had a memorable moment tonight. And yes, I'm bragging just a little!

We skyped with our 6 year old granddaughter who is in kindergarten or Primary as they say in Nova Scotia. Usually, it's me reading stories to her. My Easter surprise: Gale read me the complete original version of Dr. Seuss's Green Eggs and Ham. I was flabbergasted to say the least. What was cute, after each page, she turned the book so I could see the picture. Making memories are so important don't you think?

To end the Easter Day, here's one of Verna's Easter Egg Temari Ornaments. Beautiful, as usual, Verna.

Spring Ideas!

Happy Thursday! I hope you are ready for the holiday weekend. The focus here these days, is house renos. And I'm trying to get my orders finished. This year, The Rooms Gift Store, has added Shimmer Ornaments to the Fibre Art Pendants, that they already carry. The embroidery machine has been working overtime these days.

Working

I have been working on getting my workshop materials ready for next Monday's deadline. The workshop in Espanola, Ontario, isn't until next October, but all the promotional materials have to be done well in advance. I will keep you posted on the festival.

Here's a applique quilted piece that was made in the late 90's. The light background is Sashiko. The thistles are dimensional.

Yikes! Easter is this weekend. Since not blogging everyday, I lose all sense of time. The Provincial Wholesale Show was on Sunday and Monday. It was a good show. I participated in Cash and Carry which meant I had to have adequate stock on hand. I didn't do much of anything in the studio since then.

Bunny Treat Bags

A few days ago, in my post, Where's Spring, I listed a few spring / Easter projects to view. Well, I thought the Bunny Treat Bags were so cute that I decided to make a few. They are small and light weight so are easy and inexpensive to mail. Just don't fill them! Someone else can do that. Don't the colours just ooze Spring?

The last photo is a view out the back patio door - more like Christmas than spring which brings up the possibility of turning these into reindeer treat bags. Just change the colours and the ears! I'm sure there are other animals with distinctive ears to use as well? Think about it . . .

Some Good Market

I will be participating in Some Good Market next Saturday, April 5th. at Canon Wood Hall at the corner of Military Road and Kingsbridge Road. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and everyone will be out and about and eager to get some early Easter gift buying done. This will probably be my last market until September / October.

My Fibre Art Pendants are ready to go! At the last market I attended, I did some field testing on the pendants and could have sold all I had with me. For those in St. John's and area, please drop by to have a look and support local artists and crafts people.

Spring has finally arrived! In theory anyway - we had 20 cm of snow on Monday and another weather system is coming up the eastern sea board this evening. It's time to bring some light and airy colours into the house since there's none outside yet. As Easter is close, I thought that might be the place to start! I checked around and found some nifty patterns for you. Most of them are free.

Wishing For Spring!

This has been the longest, coldest winter that I can remember! I go outside only when necessary. Of the four seasons, winter is my least favorite. I'm glad it's almost done (I hope). However, looking out my window today, one would think - Christmas card! Everything is covered with a soft cover of white. It does look pretty but enough is enough!

Have a great Easter.
This little Easter Egg Sampler wall hanging, which I called EGGS-tra Ordinary Stitching, was made in 1998. Thank goodness for quilt labels as I would never have remembered that. I wonder if my sister recognizes the bunny border print! Each egg was appliqued onto the background. What patience I had - paper piecing isn't a favorite of mine.

Yarn bombed? This pier in Saltburn-by-the-Sea near Teesside, England, certainly was! Take a look at some awsome photos of these Olympics-themed knitted figures that a mystery knitter did for the London 2012 Olympics. Check it out on this video by the BBC. Could there be a new knitting book out there soon? There is one about the Royals. Take a look at it on this video.

Quick Embroidery Project - Easter



One of the embroidery guild ladies just sent a sewing / embroidery / quilting link to all the guild members so I'm passing it along to you. What caught her eye was an embroidered Easter egg from Shiny Happy World. This is a free pattern and can be found HERE. This is a very simple project you can do while waiting for an appointment or when watching TV. But the thing I thought about was by changing the colour of the felt, the threads and design, this egg pattern could become a Christmas ornament or any seasonal ornament. The shape could also be turned into a circle. Think about it.

Spring? - Not here yet!

While most of the country has been experiencing spring like weather, St. John's certainly hasn't! Yesterday we has freezing rain with everything covered in ice. Today the temperature ventured above freezing enough to melt the ice that had formed on everything. In fact, for awhile there this evening, it felt a bit like spring. Or was that wishful thinking? Anyway, to celebrate the coming of Spring, here are a few projects for you to check. Something just might catch your eye!

• At Sew We Quilt, March is table runner month. Have a gander at their stuff. For some reason, I rather like the detachable hexagon runner. If I did this one, each one would be whole cloth with the back fabric coming toward the front to form the border.
• The folks at All People Quilt, have scads of table top quilts to choose from. I like the watermelon table runner. This one is posted in lots of time for summer dining too.
• The Warm Company has a pattern for a set of placemats and table runner made in lovely spring colours.
• There is a neat Apple Core table runner at Spun Sugar Quilts. I think this one could be made in other colours to suit the season or holiday.
