Roses and Other Stuff
Another HOT, sunny day in St. John's! I can't believe the heat. This is the first summer we have been at home in at least 10 years. My garden is glorious. Look at the roses. This rose bush was a gift from the Cabot Quilt Guild in 2008 as a thank you for chairing the National Juried Quilt Show at Quilt Canada (CQA) here in St. John's. The Winners . . .
Here are the 2017 National Juried Show winners at Quilt Canada, Toronto, Ontario. Amazing work by fabulous quilters!
The Best of Show was won by Colette Dumont for Fleur de glace. Please visit the Canadian Quilters' Association web site and click on each quilt photo to see the quilts.

CQA / ACC
The Canadian Quilters' Association just posted all the entries from Quilt Canada's 2015 National Juried Show. I had a very quick look at all the categories and they are quite impressive. Please take a few minutes to look at this show.
In the wearable art section, Judy Kelly, former CQA President and member of the Eastern Edge Quilt Guild here in St. John's, has used fabric selvages to create a very unique coat. Congratulations, Judy. Hopefully, we will see it next fall. I had an opportunity to see a chair that Judy covered with fabric selvages a couple years ago. That, too, was amazing!
The theme for the Trend-Tex Challenge at Quilt Canada this year was Blowing in the Wind. Check these out too.

Quilt Canada, NS, 2012
This is the Quilt Canada 2012, Seams Like Home, weekend, Halifax, Nova Scotia. It will probably be awhile before we see photos of the National Juried Show (NJS) quilts. However, I did find Scrapmaster, a blog from Nova Scotia. There you will find some photos of the quilts from the Mayflower Quilters. Scroll down a bit further and you will see some of the Trend-Tex Challenge entries to Quilt Canada and the Miniature Challenge.
