One of the Newfoundland quilters was looking for chalkboard fabric and posted a request for a supplier on Facebook. Luckily for her, she can get it in Gander, NL at
C & M Crafts. However, someone else posted a Big List of
Canadian Online Fabric, Pattern and Notions Stores from
The Finished Garment, a sewing, quilting, stitching blog out of Montreal. This list was updated on September 5, 2015. For those of you who shop online, this is worth checking out. I haven.t done that yet but will soon.
On another note, it was also mentioned that by shopping online, quilters aren't supporting their local shops. Well, sometimes you might not be able to get just what you need locally. Also, there might not be a quilt shop within driving distance of many people.
I try to shop locally during the year but when travelling, whether it's in Canada or the United States, I seek out shops to visit.
The
Canadian Quilters' Association has a list of quilt shops that support them. Check them out
HERE.
Generations Quilt Patterns has a list of 153 Ontario Quilt Shops and Fabric Stores
Cheryl's Quilting Links has a list of
Canadian Quilt Shops
I know the above lists aren't comprehensive but it's a start. You can add these to your list.
Enjoy!
Remember: shop locally whenever you can.
