Canadian Quilt Shops

One of the Newfoundland quilters was looking for chalkboard fabric and posted a request for a supplier on Facebook. Luckily for her, she can get it in Gander, NL at C & M Crafts. However, someone else posted a Big List of Canadian Online Fabric, Pattern and Notions Stores from The Finished Garment, a sewing, quilting, stitching blog out of Montreal. This list was updated on September 5, 2015. For those of you who shop online, this is worth checking out. I haven.t done that yet but will soon.

On another note, it was also mentioned that by shopping online, quilters aren't supporting their local shops. Well, sometimes you might not be able to get just what you need locally. Also, there might not be a quilt shop within driving distance of many people.

I try to shop locally during the year but when travelling, whether it's in Canada or the United States, I seek out shops to visit.

I know the above lists aren't comprehensive but it's a start. You can add these to your list.

Classes on Craftsy

Have you ever taken online classes?

Craftsy is having a sale of over 500 classes for $19.99.  Now is your chance to sign up for a class or two at a reduced rate. That's what I did last fall. So far, I've downloaded the classes but only managed to watch one of them. There is just not enough time!!!  In any case, you can do the classes at your leisure. In your pyjamas if you are so inclined.

Oldies but Goodies

This post, with its vintage theme, should have accompanied the previous one, Letty Mac's Tea Room, but I didn't have all the information at posting time.

I came across this vintage online pattern book,  An Embroidery Pattern Book by Mary P.Waring. It is well worth a look and can be read online or down loaded as a PDF.
