Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween everyone! Usually we go out for supper on October 31st as I really don't like going to the door over and over and over. Guess you can tell, I don't like Halloween!  After spending 30 years in primary classrooms, I'm done in! My neighbor told me that last year they had about eight children to the door for the whole night (they are just round the corner from me). So since I've been busy getting ready for the Christmas Craft Fair, I opted to stay home. There have been just ten Trick or Treaters to the door. I'm good with that!!!

Enjoy the rest of your evening!!!

Take a look at some other Halloween Treasures (for next Halloween)

Happy Halloween!

2015 Winners in Quilts: A World of Beauty, International Quilt Association

This is the time of year that quilters flock to Houston, Texas for the International Quilt Show! I had the opportunity to go to this show a number of years ago and would love to make a return visit. This show was hugh and the best I've ever attended.

Well, last evening, the winners of this year's event, A World of Beauty, was announced. I am very pleased to see that several Canadians were among the winners. Congratulations to everyone.

Check out the winners HERE.

Enjoy!!

Pendants!

I added a few more Fibre Art Pendants to my supply for the Christmas Craft Fair. Here's some of them.

There are a couple more new Christmas shimmer designs that I will share soon. I can hear the embroidery machine doing its thing as I write. My husband creates all my shimmer designs in Corel Draw and then they are converted to stitch in another program. That program can convert the stitch to be used with any embroidery machine on the market.

It's a great team effort!

Making Gifts For Christmas ???

Christmas is less than two months away. How many of you have already started making a few gifts? Well, in case you haven't, I've found a few projects to consider.
I hope you find something interesting to spark an idea for a special gift.

This pillowcase was made by my sister for Gale, last Christmas!

On My Table . . .

I'm usually working on several things at the same time. To keep some order to my work, I keep projects on trays. That way, I don't have to keep cleaning off my table. I just put the tray away for the next time. This works well for me.

I also have clear plastic scrap book storage boxes to hold supplies. These are very easy to take out and put away!

One of the quilt blogs I frequently visit, is SCRAPMASTER. Linda, owner of this blog, has posted two great write-ups about last weekend's 8th Annual Nova Scotia Fibre Arts Festival, Amherst, Nova Scotia. Linda has linked to a number of places worth visiting.

Linda is also a member of the Maritime Modern Quilt Guild.

Getting Ready For the Christmas Craft Fair . . .

These two embroideries will be framed 5 x 7 with white mats and black metal frames. All my frames are custom cut by Image Fusion, Mount Pearl and put together here at home.

One of the hardest parts of composing a picture is coming up with a suitable title. I have my sister working on that one since she has been so good at giving titles to her quilts! However, I had to tell her to leave the food names out of it. She does have a bit of a sense of humor when it comes to something like that.

I've also linked up to The Needle & Thread Network this week.

Needle Felted Ornaments

Before I can cut out the shapes for my Needle Felted Ornaments, I have to make the base fabrics. Here's what a sheet of needle felting looks like before I cut into it. As you can see, I do have quite a collection of decorative yarns. It's hard to see the sparkly yarns in these photos but I put them in usually every after 3 - 4 lengths of yarn.

My newest shape is a winter cap.

Here is another reversible Fibre Lace Scarf that was finished last week. My scarves will be at the Christmas Craft Fair (Craft Council of NL Juried Work), November 11 - 15 at the Jack Byrne Arena. If you are going to be in the area at that time, please drop by as there will be lots of vendors from all over the province.

Autumn Colours From My Garden

I just had to capture some of the vibrant, fall colours from my garden. It is a great way to preserve your own colour pallet for autumn. Don't you just love these colours!

In fact, you can match your threads to the colours in your photos. Print out the photo, stick it in a journal and put thread samples with it. Of course, don't forget to write in the colour numbers for reference. Or, if you prefer, dye or over dye your floss.

If you have a set of Inktense Blocks, it's easy to dye floss for a project. These blocks of color, once applied and set, are permanent. A great way to get one-of-a-kind colours.

Stained Glass Scarf!

Here's another stained glass reversible Fibre Lace Scarf. The photo doesn't do it justice as the colours are vibrant! This is the one I posted about a few days ago. Check out the work in progress HERE.

Hide & Seek

This morning I finished the underwater scene from Tuesday's post, Something Fishy. I call this one: Hide & See. It will be custom framed 5" x 7" with a black metal frame. The background is a Bali Batik. I used eyelash yarn to the left, and Sari Silk Yarn to the right. I like the way the silk shines in the piece. Some hand dyed cheesecloth is used in the right hand corner. The middle section is hand embroidered with a variety of threads. The fish are from my fantasy fish collection.

Something Fishy!!

This afternoon, I've been working with some fish that I had embroidered quite awhile ago. I think some of them are going to work perfectly in a couple of small underwater scenes.

I've also linked up with Linky Tuesday. So far, there are 34 links to explore!
Enjoy!!
