Ornament Exchange - Part 2

More ornaments from the St. John's Embroidery Guild:

This is Verna's Christmas Temari Ornament.
I haven't posted any new links lately. That will happen soon. However, in the meantime, check out my blogging buddy, Mary Ann, at Magpie's Mumblings. For my Crazy Quilt enthusiasts, check out her Santa. And to all the grandmas whose little ones are quite young, scroll down to view her 'quiet' book. Job well done!!!

Embroidery Christmas Ornament Exchange - Part 1

Tonight the embroidery guild held its annual Christmas Ornament exchange. I will show them all over the next couple of posts. All were beautiful!

I had difficulty editing this one. It didn't matter what I did, this is how it stayed.

Shimmers and Cake!!

It's time to take the bull by the horns and get back to posting. One of the minor problems I'm having is not having my photos on my machine. I got this new tablet just before we left in May and as a result, most of my photos are on a portable hard drive (somewhere among my husband's stuff) and on my phone. So instead of transferring my phone photos to computer (long story), I have been emailing them to me and using them that way. Got to get all this fixed soon.

Today I finished stitching the last of the new Shimmer Ornaments (elves below). They still have to be trimmed with the burning tool and packaged but that's minor in the scheme of things. All my ornaments come packaged as you see below in the second photo. They can be put in a card and mailed anywhere in the world (cheaper than sending a package).

These elves are drying before cutting apart.

Packaged, ready to go!
The Gingerbread House was designed by my daughter, Jill. You can see her art at: jill-cooper.com
and on instagram: @jtcartist.
Her paintings are amazing!

These shimmers are mummers. Mummering is an old Newfoundland tradition. Read about it HERE

This 24 inch tree was purchased at Home Depot. It has a 6 hour timer for the lights which works out perfectly.

Tonight I baked my dark Christmas Fruitcake. This is my mom's old recipe and the best one I've ever tasted. However, mine cracked on the top even though I spread it over with a knife dipped in hot water before baking (mom's tip). It didn't work for me - again!! However, it smells great and I know it will melt in the mouth!
Enjoy!!

New to Studio

November 17th and this was the temperature in the back garden this afternoon:
Amazing!!!!
A new 12 needle felting machine or embellisher, as they are called in industry, was added to my studio yesterday.  This one replaces my 5 needle felting machine. The 5 needle machine is in excellent condition but the 12 needle one is much faster for my needs. I will be selling the older one.

An added feature of the new machine is a holder for yarn and a place to thread the yarn so that it comes out by the needles for easy felting. I am making a few new needle felted Wearable Art Pins to replace the ones sold at the Christmas Craft Fair. There is also a place on the front of the embellisher foot to thread ribbon. I'm looking forward to 'playing' with this new machine!!

Here are a few felted projects / tutorials to check:
Enjoy!!

My Booth at the Christmas Craft Fair

The Christmas Craft Fair is over for another year! Five very busy, successful, days!!

I had a corner booth, sized 8' x 12'. This time, I decided to have a separate display for the Shimmers (blue board below). I was going to drape black fabric over the blue board but decided to leave it. The blue matched the drapes in the stadium. Lots of Shimmers will have new homes this Christmas!

A hugh thank you to everyone who visited my booth and to those who purchased my textile art pieces.

Nov 10, Thursday 10 - 9

I will be at booth #103.

New Pendants

Here are a few new Fibre Art Pendants. The backgrounds have been needle felted then stitched with matching thread. Metallic threads are used for the objects (except the poinsettia). All original designs were stitched on a Brother PR 1000e, 10 needle embroidery machine. Of course, we can convert the designs to be stitched on any machine out there. Other designs include a sailboat, anchor, another tree, and an abstract three triangles in a circle.

Various background colours: wine, black, blue, turquoise, dark gray. I will also be experimenting with a felted background using various colours.

The maple leaf really stands out. I've had lots of compliments on that one (it's the only one I've worn yet and have kept one for me).
