White Point Shimmer

My shimmer ornaments are for sale at the White Point Resort Gift Shop, Nova Scotia. Last year, they

requested a new shimmer just for them. They were delighted with the design.

Up Date on Shows - Craft Nova Scotia

Since the show at White Point, I've exhibited at Craft Nova Scotia and Dalplex. On December 7 - 8, I'll be at the Lunenburg Christmas Event at the Bluenose Academy (one of three venues within walking distance of each other).

Here are several photos from Craft Nova Scotia, Cunard Center, Halifax.

I have a new grid system for displaying framed art. On top is one of my large textile pieces, View From The Rooms.

A new Shimmer Display spinner, made by my husband, is perfect and doesn't take up lots of space.
The trees have samples of all my Shimmer Ornaments. Visitors can see them at a glance. If they aren't on the table, they are easy for me to get.

Wearable Art Pins were very popular at all the shows!

The three Fibre Lace Scarves in front were off to happy customers early in the show. I still have a few left for next weekend at Lunenburg. I design and make a limited number each year. I have taken requests for certain colour combinations.

Artists at White Point Show & Sale

Last Sunday I attended Artists at White Point Show & Sale. 43 vendors from around Queens County and beyond, gathered at the Beach Resort to be part of the 7th annual show. Apparently, the number of visitors was way up from previous years. In fact, the tally of sales for the participating artists and creators, for this one day event, was an incredible $25,000.00.

A big thank you to the staff, especially Cathie Pincombe, of White Point Beach Resort, for hosting this magnificent event. Did I mention that it was free for vendors and visitors?

Also, thank you to those who stopped to say hello and to those who purchased something special for themselves or for someone else. It was a great day! Shimmer Ornaments were a hit.

Here's a few shots taken mostly from my table space. It was a busy day with lots of folks and I didn't get a chance to see other vendors until almost closing time.

Sea'spired Wearable Art at White Point

Here is the 'social' post that was created for me for White Point Sea'spired Wearable Art Show. Each artist, who was invited to the show, gets their own poster to use on social media. If you are in the area on the Saturday before Mother's Day, drop by and say hello!

I also found out this week, that I have been accepted into the Windfall Fine Art & Handcraft Market, Antigonish, Nova Scotia, September 28 - 29, 2019. My daughter, Jill, will be sharing the space with me.

Fun times ahead!

The Sea-Spired Wearable Art Show

White Point Beach Resort is hosting The Sea-Spired Wearable Art Show on the Saturday before Mother's Day. This is the first time such a show has been held at the resort. I was invited to attend and show some of my wearable Art pieces which include Fibre Lace Scarves, Fibre Art Pendants, Art Pins, Evening Purses and Card Cases.

I was also interviewed by Heather Laura Clarke from the Chronicle Herald. You can read it HERE

Some News and Other Stuff

Oh, dear! Halloween already - we had about half a dozen trick or treaters knock at the door. October has been a very busy month of production.

Late September, I found out that my submission to Craft Nova Scotia (craft council) was accepted and that I could participate in the Craft Nova Scotia Christmas Craft Show, Halifax, November 16  - 18. While I'm doing this show, Jill, my daughter, be be at the Christmas Market at White Point Beach. That one is by invitation.

Jill and I are also doing the Christmas Craft Village, November 9 - 11. I tried to do Christmas at the Forum but it was filled. We will also be at the Dalplex Christmas Market, December 23 - 25. Both these will also be in Halifax.

The first weekend of December, you will find us at the Lunenburg Christmas Market, which is much closer to home.

All the above contributed to my intermittent blogging because, frankly, I had to get my head around doing all these shows and having enough work produced to sell.  In St. John's, I did two Christmas fairs: the Christmas Craft Fair, Craft Council of NL, and the Anna Templeton Christmas Tea and Sale.

Over the next little while, I will be showing some for the things made for the above markets.
Here are some of the newest Fibre Art Pendants, with more to finish. These photos are a bit darker than they actually are.

I also post photos to Instagram @jctextileart  as it's so easy to do via my phone.
Enjoy!!

Pendants & Sculptures!!

Last Sunday, the family went to White Point Beach Resort for Mother's Day Brunch. The food was wonderful and a lovely spot to spend an afternoon. Some of my Fibre Art Pendants and Shimmers are for sale in the gift shop. You will find a few of the pendants below:

On the way home, we visited Crosby's Sculptures and Garden Center, Liverpool. If you are in the area, it's well worth the visit! These sculptures are all constructed from concrete:

Two New Shimmers

I have two new Shimmers, a bunny and a ship's wheel.

The bunny was a request by the manager of the gift shop at White Point Beach Resort, White Point, Queens County, Nova Scotia. The shop is going to carry my Shimmers and Fibre Art Pendants.
The ship's wheel is in keeping with a Maritime theme.

As you can see from the photos, it was a gorgeous sunny, warm spring day. I spent the day outside with our granddaughter (sleepover last night). Since it was Earth Day, Gale planted a small pine tree in the back of the garden.

Now for a few links:

Road Trip to White Point Beach Resort

Yesterday, my daughter, Jill and I took a road trip to White Point Beach Resort. It's about a 40 minute drive from Bridgewater. The 5th Annual Quilt Atlantic was held there this weekend.  A pop-up shop, opened to the public, happened on Saturday, so of course, I had to check it out. I knew that Quilt Source was going to be there as I frequently order from them. The following shops were there for the day: Lynn 's Quilting Studio, A Needle Pulling Thread, Quilts By The Bay, Quilt Source Canada, River House Rug Hooking and Kelly Burgess Art

While at the resort, we dropped into the Gift Shop to look around. Jill and I were each wearing one of my Fibre Art Pendants. I was warm so had my coat off. The manager of the shop saw my pendant. To make a long story short: my pendants and shimmers will be in the gift shop by Mother's Day Weekend! We did have a sample package of Shimmers and Pendants in the car.
