The Sea-Spired Wearable Art Show

White Point Beach Resort is hosting The Sea-Spired Wearable Art Show on the Saturday before Mother's Day. This is the first time such a show has been held at the resort. I was invited to attend and show some of my wearable Art pieces which include Fibre Lace Scarves, Fibre Art Pendants, Art Pins, Evening Purses and Card Cases.

I was also interviewed by Heather Laura Clarke from the Chronicle Herald. You can read it HERE

Purses & Totes

One of my blogging buddies mentioned in an email yesterday, that she was going to look through her patterns for a bag pattern. I hope she was successful but in case she wasn't, I've several links that might help. These might also be an idea for a Mother's Day Surprise!

Fantastic Fabrics Short Course

Saturday I will be teaching another session of my Fantastic Fabrics Short Course. This morning was spend getting my handouts in order and taking a look at the things I need to take.

Course summary:

Students will experiment with sheer fabrics and other materials such threads, decorative yarns, sequins, paper and glittery fabrics such as lame, tulle, organza etc., to create their own fantastic fabrics. This playful technique results in a new fabric that can be used in applique, in piecing, as a background fabric or as framed pieces of art. To create this fantastic fabric, students will be using free-motion stitching on their sewing machine.

The focus of the course will be on techniques and procedures. This fun, stress free course usually takes about 5 - 6 hours!

I provide a lot of the 'glitzy' stuff to turn an ordinary piece of fabric into a 'glamorous, run-way' piece!

Here's an evening purse, made in 2007, that was made out of a piece of 'fantastic fabric'. The red and black fluffy piece is a wearable art pin that can be kept on the purse or attached to your outfit.

Enjoy!

Fantasy Fabric Workshop

I will be teaching my Fantasy Fabric Workshop in March. At Eastern Edge Quilt Guild earlier this month, I presented some of the things I have made using these embellished fabrics.

I purchased this clear vinyl bag so that I could insert my own fantasy fabric bag. It came with a cloth bag but I didn't like the colour. This one is now one-of-a-kind.

The insert is attached to the vinyl with velcro. It is on the red tab in the middle top.

When my daughter got married, I decided to make this evening bag to match my outfit. The bag has a detachable wearable art pin.

Here are a couple of smaller sewing projects:

Evening Bag

Several years ago, I designed and created a series of Evening Purses. One of the features of these purses is the Wearable Art Pin that is pinned onto each purse. It can be worn on a jacket or coat or an another one used in its place.

I kept this black and red one. A few evenings ago, I had another occasion to use it.
