New Adventure

I'm off to Northern Ontario tomorrow to teach at the Espanola Fibre Arts Festival. I'm looking forward to teaching on Friday and Sunday. Students will be creating their own Fibre Art Pendants.

On Saturday, I will be a vendor at the Vendor's Market. I will have a small selection of Shimmer Ornaments, Wearable Art Pins, Felted Ornaments and Pendants. It will be interesting to visit other vendors.

A few sites to check:
Enjoy

Echinacea

Aren't these lovely! A little past their prime but still worth a glance. These were at a rest stop in Southern Ontario. I'm surprised they look as good as they do considering the heat wave temperatures in this part of the country. Many textile artists have used the Echinacea in their art. You will see lots of textile images of these flowers HERE.
Enjoy!

Soon . . .

I haven't been blogging lately but hope to get back at it soon. I hope you have been surviving the hot weather of summer! There were severe thunder storms here in Southern Ontario last evening. It just poured where I am. I hope it will cool down just a bit as 30 + C is too hot for me.

I have been searching Pinterest while on the road. I started a board. I can't believe the amount of 'stuff' crafters have found and the numbers of followers on some boards! It boggles the mind.

Have a great day!!!

Gifts Given . . . Enjoy

Here are some of the things I made for Christmas gifts. The quilt is from a kit I purchased last summer at the Hobby Horse, Georgetown, Ontario. The panel caught my eye as each block has words about the sounds each object makes. It's part of the Little Genius series. The toy giraffe pattern was from Tilda's Studio by Tone Finnanger. Both were made for my little granddaughter in Chicago.

This bird was featured in a Quilting Arts Magazine. It lives in Manitoba. A similar one is in Tennessee.
I made five table toppers but I forgot to photograph the one gone to Texas.

Patterns

I'm always looking for patterns / unusual designs when taking photos. You never know what might trigger an idea - old vines on a brick wall in Kingston, ON; a rock wall and a brick road leading down to old Quebec City; waves created by bricks beside a water exhibit in Quebec City; a bridge across the river (check out the clouds). . .
Enjoy!

Plants

We are still travelling and I am still taking lots of photos. You never know when one of them will inspire a new idea or project!

Len's Mill Store

While visiting London, Ontario, I paid a visit to Len's Mill Store. They wouldn't permit any photos to be taken. I entered the shop and didn't know which way to turn as there was everything under the sun, from clothing, food, dry goods, tools, crafty stuff, yarns and fabrics to furniture.

After looking from left to right and all around, I discovered the yarns and accessories / patterns to the right. Yes, I did purchase a few decorative balls of yarn for surface embellishment. Next to the yarns, were the decorator fabrics. A quick walk through this area brought me to the quilting section. All the cottons were arranged by theme such as cats, dogs, coffee, tea, wildlife, butterflies, Asian, batiks, . . . you get the idea. Again, I made a few small purchases of batiks and glittery fabrics.

There was everything you could ever need for sewing and quilting, including tools and other notions (some of the things were very dated, while others were new) - a one stop shopping experience! It was very warm in the building as there was no air conditioning so I didn't linger too long. The outside temperature was 32C and climbing and it seemed just as warm inside!

Hobby Horse Quilt Shop

I visited the Hobby Horse Quilt Shop, in Georgetown, Ontario, awhile ago. This is another store that is a quilter's dream. It has two floors of fabrics and accessories. The basement level is devoted to Christmas all year long and to baby / children 'stuff''. As you can see from the photos, there's lots to see and purchase in the store. Look closely at the last photo and you will see a panel on the top about cats that I did buy. I have no idea what I'll do with it but it caught my eye anyway!
