Day 1, 2021

Our granddaughter did stay up with us to welcome the New Year! We watched a movie and had snacks. She was very pleased with herself.

Today the sun was out, a ham was baked, vegetables cooked and ready for company. It was a good day.

Tonight, I finished up a Christmas puzzle that my sister gave me last year. Physical size wise, it's the biggest I've ever put together. I have no plans to do any more this winter as I want to concentrate more on hand embroidery in the evenings.

Out with the old / In with the new

Christmas was a quiet one shared with family. Presents were opened on Christmas Day with our granddaughter exclaiming "Oh, my goodness" when she opened up the giant Lego set that she was hoping for.

We started bathroom renovations on Boxing Day!!! I'm the designated helper / cleaner-upper. You get the idea. Today, the old cabinet and sink went out the door. It will probably be a few days before the new one gets installed. I figure it will take awhile before everything gets finished.

The studio has been cleaned up after a very busy craft fair season. I won't be working at anything in particular for awhile.

Last week was one of semi relaxing. I did put this puzzle together and started another one. This one did not include a picture of the piece which made it a bit harder to do. It was one of those mysteries that you are suppose to solve by doing the puzzle. There was a short story and the answer to the mystery. I didn't bother with that part.

The stained glass poinsettias were a gift from my brother and sister-in-law in Newfoundland. Some of his work is at King's Point Pottery.

I am not one for making New Year's Resolutions but I am hoping to blog a bit more frequently in 2020. Happy New Year everyone!!!!

Getting Back to Work - SLOWLY!

In December, I bought myself a 2000 piece jig saw puzzle. Yep, nuts for sure! I haven't done a puzzle in over 20 years. Lots of them got done at our house as children. So, I set this one up and have been working on it over the holidays. I needed to get away from hand / machine work for awhile. I'm ready to get back into the grove of creating again. However, the puzzle 'Moose Be Done'. I copied that phrase from a magnetic note pad my granddaughter gave me.

I just love the bright colours in this puzzle.

My first project will be more Credit Card Holders. See a few HERE.  I purchased some vibrant coloured fabric a few days ago to use for these. Most of my fabrics are inaccessible at the moment, so what is one to do BUT buy more fabric!

Enjoy!!

Puzzles & More

Do you like puzzles? Jig Saw, that is. I've loved them since I was a kid. However, I haven't done one in several years. Just too many other things taking up my time. I did spy this one by Gunnel Hag  (click start a new game).

For those of you who aren't familiar with this fibre artist, go HERE and HERE. She is the artist who introduced me to the fabric dyeing method of the Colour Vie Pigment System. All the skies and water, that are in my landscapes, were dyed using this system. It is a fabulous environmentally friendly fabric dyeing method.

I used this method for the sky and water, in the piece below. The hills in the distance were printed onto silk from my computer and then appliqued to the background. The foreground is pieced and appliqued in place. This one was on exhibit at the Waterloo & Area Quilt Festival quite a few years ago.
