I Won A Cookbook!

My cell phone indicated that I had several new messages. I looked at the inbox and wondered why Barry Parsons (Rock Recipes) was contacting me. Well, I was the winner of a signed copy of his Rock Recipes 2 cookbook. The contest was on Facebook this weekend. Thank you, Barry!

I have been following Barry's web site, Rock Recipes, for quite awhile. The recipes / photos are great! The best part, his recipes are down to earth and you don't have to go all over creation looking for ingredients.

A couple of years ago, Barry decided to write his first cookbook, Rock Recipes. It was a fantastic success. Not too long ago, he launched his second cookbook, Rock Recipes 2. They can both be purchased on Amazon. com and Amazon.ca.

As the owner of both these books, I highly recommend them to anyone anywhere.

Rock Recipes

Today was a snow day! I spent the morning working in my studio and in the afternoon I baked a Vanilla Cream Cheese Bundt Cake from my Rock Recipes Cook Book. The cake is delicious!
I've been a follower of the Rock Recipes blog (I think since it began). It is full of wonderful recipes and colour photos of all the delightful dishes. I highly recommend you pay a visit.

This is a photo of the Vanilla Cream Cheese Bundt from Rock Recipes. I didn't use the same icing called for in the recipe because I ran out of cream cheese. I mixed up some white icing instead.

Make It Tonight!

I just drove by the Avalon Mall, St. John's. Believe me, every space where a vehicle could be parked, was filled and there was a line of cars waiting to get into the parking lot! That was not my destination today. I walked into Chapters to get gift cards, took one look at the line for the cash and walked right back out the door. I guess you can say, my patience this afternoon, was limited. I am so glad I took the time earlier this fall to make some of my Christmas presents. I don't know about you, but I enjoy making and receiving home made gifts.

Rock Recipes

Today I'm reintroducing you to Rock Recipes, from Newfoundland. I posted about their Gingerbread Houses in 2011. This month they are celebrating their 5th Blog-iversary and today posted their 900th recipe -  Frozen White Chocolate Cream Puffs! There are a lot of people out there who just love Newfoundland cuisine from Fish Cakes to Figgy Duff. I hope you don't mind my diversion to cooking on this warm day in St. John's.

Gingerbread Houses from Rock Recipes

The gingerbread houses (scroll down) shown on the Rock Recipes web site aren't the typical ones you associate with gingerbread house construction. These houses are similiar to the ones found in the St. John's area. Barry Parsons has provided a gingerbread recipe and instructions on making one of the houses. It is rather late to be posting this but I just found this quite by accident. Anyway, better late than never. Now you can file it away for next year.
