The Digby Lobster Fest, Nova Scotia, was held last weekend. The weather was sunny and hot. I noticed some interesting carvings on a couple of buildings near the pier. If you click on the photos to enlarge them, you will see the carved details in each section. Can you see something like this translated into fabric? Inspiration can come from anywhere or anything. The next time you walk in a city, look down at the street. Some cities have very interesting manhole covers. Consider the trim on some older houses, iron fences, roof designs, abstract ornaments in parks and other places . . . The list is endless.
When we were in Digby a few years ago, I remember the various wood carvings and plaques on the walls and loved them! This one is unique and lovely!
ReplyDeleteAt first glance you don't notice the wonderful carvings - such a pleasant surprise to look closely and see the incredible details. I've always loved woodworked pieces - my dad made furniture and DH used to carve (before the dust started bothering his lungs)
