Canadian textile artist,
Pamela Allen was
Artist- in-Residence at Kent Cottage at Landfall, Briggs, Newfoundland, in June. She gave a workshop on June 27 called, My Quilt My Rules. Since Kent Cottage has no electricity, it was a hands on workshop. The focus was to have fun making a picture out of fabric. There were no rules, just "drawing with scissors" to make an image. A fabric collage was created by freehand scissor cutting, layering of different fabrics, mixing unlikely combinations of fabrics and adding any other techniques to make an interesting piece of work.
Unfortunately, I was unable to attend this workshop but a couple of my friends did and reported that it was a very interesting day. Please check out Pamela's work

DeleteSounds like it would have been a fun day - too bad you missed going and having the experience yourself.
