And the Winners are . . .

On January 27, I announced a giveaway on my blog. The prize was a shimmer ornament of choice to two people who commented on that post. Today was the day to pick the two winners and they are Mertie and Jo. Congratulations ladies. An email was sent earlier today.

I use a lot of Angelina in my shimmers.  Here's my newest batch of the fibers. I buy in bulk!

Here are the coloured fibers that are used too. I've had these for awhile as they are added to the white fibers sparingly. As the saying goes: 'Less is more'.

Work in Progress - Continued

I finished adding decorative threads, yarns and slivers of fabric to the unfinished piece I showed you yesterday. To keep everything in place, navy tulle was put over the whole thing and then free-motion stitched with Sulky Sliver thread. This thread adds more glitter. Now the fantasy fabric is ready to use in a project.
The bright bits are pieces of bonded Angelina Fibres leftover from stitching out Shimmer Ornaments. Nothing goes to waste!
I also did some stitching to the felted piece. However, that one isn't finished yet.

Angelina Fibers

Today my order of Angelina Fibers arrived! I always order the straight-cut fibers as the crimped cut ones don't always bond as well as the straight-cut ones. Ask me how I know!! I always order lots of the white as I go through quite a bit of it. These fibers will be used in more shimmers.

Busy Day

We had more snow today. As a result, I got lots of work done in my studio. Both embroidery machines were working from dawn to dusk - literally! Lots of shimmers are stitched out. Now on to the next step of finishing them.
I recycle plastic containers. This large one holds left over bits of bonded Angelina Fibers which will  be reused in the making of more sheets of Angelina.

Angelina Fibers

Old stash of Angelina fibers
I just received my latest order of Angelina Fibers from Embellishment Village. Over the years I have used bags of the stuff in my work. I thought I had all the colours available but that wasn't so. A few new colours have been added which I had to have! You can see them in the first photo. The second photo shows my original stash of Angelina fibers, Crystalina fibers and fusible film.
I use snippets of the film with the fibers. I will take a piece of the film, scrunch it in my hand, smooth it out again (leaving lovely lines) and then cut it up to use with the fibers. Using a rotary cutter with decorative blades also gives a neat look to the fusible film. I tried to use a pair of fancy paper scissors (generally used for scrap booking) but they didn't work at all. They were just cheap paper ones. The more expensive ones probably work fine.
