More photos!

I took a trip out to Petty Harbour yesterday to make a delivery to Herbie's Olde Shoppe. They have been featuring some of my work in their shop. It was a beautiful day. On the way, I stopped and took a few more photos of the downtown area. This time, I was at the top of the hill on the road leading out to Cape Spear. In the first photo, overlooking the city, you can see The Rooms and the Basilica Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. They are very prominent landmarks.

Down Town

Here are a few photos I took today of down town St. John's. I like taking photos of the older part of the city before the leaves grow back on the trees. During the summer, everything looks gorgeous with all the greenery but the lines of the buildings are hidden. When I am constructing buildings from fabric, I prefer to see the whole front and sides. That way, I can get the perspective correct.

Oceanex was leaving the harbour as I watched from
the 5th floor of an office building.

Downtown

Today I had to go downtown on business. Parking spaces are few and far between so I opted to try the parking garage. I ended up on level M. What a view of the waterfront! The large white structure in the first photo used to be The Battery Hotel. It's now closed. I think it's been turned into office space. The homes you see, are located in part of the city called The Battery. This is a very unique spot. Further along, you can see Cabot Tower on the top of Signal Hill. It will be very nice to see some green on the hills instead of white.

When I got back home, my new one inch pendant trays and chains were in my mailbox. Now to get some ready for this weekend.

New Look!

I decided to change the look of my blog. It was time! The soft green was getting a bit dated and blogger was sugesting a new look from time to time. I do like the blue. Here's a colourful photo of row houses, downtown St. John's, to show off the new look. It was taken on a much warmer day back in September, 2011.
