Canadian Online Fabric Stores

Here's a list of a few Canadian Online Fabric Stores (not a complete list by any stretch of the imagination). I've never ordered from any of these shops so I can't recommend one over the other. However, I did win some beautiful batiks from Flare Fabrics on one of their giveaways a few months back and I spent a day stitching with friends at Stitch-It Central this past summer. It is a lovely store and they do mail ordering.

Today was a sunny one and I took advantage to do a bit of shopping. I finally made it downtown to visit a new yarn shop, Cast On Cast Off (don't you just love that name). They opened on Saturday. I'm not going to say much more about them yet as I am going to do a blog post, with photos, in the near future. Needless to say, the yarn there is beautiful - such vibrant colours too. The striped sock yarn below, won't become socks. It will be used in needle felting and fiber lace scarves. I just couldn't resist the multi coloured yarn with the green, brown, turquoise and plum colours either.

I wanted some #8 pearl cotton, so my next stop was Fiber Lily, another new shop. This one has specialty organic fabrics and much more. I will also be posting about this shop too.They were already out of many of the vibrant colours of pearl cotton that I saw there last week. Should have stocked up then. I was assured that more was on the way! I plan to use them with the wire from Michael's.

Day Two of Blogathon Canada - The Maritimes

Welcome to my blog.

This is day two of Blogathon Canada! I didn't realize until a few minutes ago that it was time to highlight the east coast. Guess I didn't pay attention to the dates yesterday. Thank you Marjorie for listing my blog as a maritime site to visit. Many thanks to all those who are participating in this cross country blogathon.

You are much appreciated.  When I started blogging in 2009, my purpose was to have a place to highlight my art work and to keep tabs on the links to places of interest to me. However, it has evolved (as most things do) into so much more. For example, I write about:

• artists who work with fibre and textiles
• quilt shows

Fibre Lace Scarves Going to Some Good Market!

I have made a few more scarves for Some Good Market tomorrow here in St. John's. This event has grown to be one of the places to visit for local art and craft. If you are in the area, drop by 8 Military Road. You can't miss it!

My scarves are reversible so there are two photos for each one. Last week I used my 50% coupon at Michael's and purchased the black stand for displaying them.

Arlene's Blog
