Modern Quilting

Are you into Modern Quilting? It sure has evolved big time in the quilting world! Personally, I like the minimalist look of many of the modern quilts. Fussy doesn't appeal to me, nor does many of the traditional quilting patterns.

KISS - Keep It Simple & Stunning is how I feel about it.

My sister just sent me the link to QuiltCon 2016 with the winning quilts displayed. Also have a look at their tutorial page.

Enjoy!

  1. I like the current trend in quilting - mainly because I never was any good with matchy-poo points and corners (one of the reasons I've never been a 'quilter').

    1. I hear you! I gave up serious quilting ages ago as I was not interested in matching up points either.

  2. I love everything about modern quilting. I am trying it all. I just did a challenge where the theme is minimalistic design. I love it! What fun. I will blog about it if I can stop sewing! lol

  4. I'm a big fan of the modern/contemporary quilting style, love the grey or white or more subdued backgrounds that show off the quilting pattern which give the quilting pattern equal importance as the pieced top. Have you heard of the 'Quick Curve Ruler' and the accompanying website 'sewkindofwonderful' ? I purchased the ruler and a couple of patterns (plus free ones) and they're a lot of fun! They have a really neat contemporary take on a lot of traditional quilt patterns as well as some unique patterns. (I'm from NL as well :)

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Karen. Yes, I'm familiar with this site and I do have that particular ruler. However, I haven't used it yet.
