Sand - Lots of it!

I visited the Michigan Dunes last Monday. Sand!!! Lots of it! Its real name is Warren Dunes State Park but to the locals, it's the Michigan Dunes.

There are 3 miles of shoreline, 6 miles of hiking trails and is open all year. It has a dune formation that rises 260 feet above the lake, which, I'm proud to say, I climbed. The view was spectacular! I watched a group of teenagers roll to the bottom and another bunch jump over the opposite side (which was quite steep) onto a pile of sand. We had to keep a close eye on the 3 year old as she wanted to do the same things as the older kids.  She did climb the whole 260 feet herself just holding her dad's hand.

Here's a couple of sites to check out and some photos of the dunes:

Enjoy!

  1. The Michigan dunes look very similar to the Oregon Coast dunes! There are many hills and valleys there too, along with rocky outcroppings that seem to grow right out of the ocean. Doesn't Mother Nature create beautiful vistas?

  2. It's beautiful. There's something wonderful about feeling sand, between your toes.
