Today's Snapshots

Today was actually just like summer - hot and sunny and the colours in my garden were spectacular. I take lots of photos as they are very inspirational in my textile art. Just look at the various colour combinations below.

Sisters

I have a fabulous sister! Back in July I blogged about some sewing projects. One project, in particular, caught my attention - the Easy-Peasy Travel Iron Caddy from The Painted Quilt blog.

The day before I left my daughter and family in Chicago to drive back home, a parcel arrived for me from my sister (she's in Tennessee). Here's what I received! My very own iron tote (she made one for herself at the same time). Thanks, Joan! Now I don't have to worry about damaging my iron when I teach / take a class.

Touch of Fall in Windsor, NS

While still on vacation in early September (Windsor, Nova Scotia), I was surprised to find these wonderful colours of fall. We don't usually see the leaves changing colour so early back home in Newfoundland. In fact, the leaves are just now turning on a few trees in my neighbourhood. My maple tree is still green and I still have roses in bloom. However, that can change in a heart beat!

Now it's time to check out some autumn projects that just might inspire you!
Enjoy!!

Guess What!!

Back in July I entered a blog give away sponsored by Vicki Welsh, Field Trips In Fiber. Vicki has the most marvelous hand dyed fabrics! Well, to make a long story short, I won the fabric give away. Since I was travelling, I didn't know I was a winner until I got home. I figured she had picked someone else's name since I hadn't gotten back to her sooner.  But, that wasn't the case. Have a look at the fantastic stash pack of 10 Fat Eights I received on Monday. Aren't they beautiful! Thanks bunches, Vicki.

Stitch-it Central

I've been back home a week and still trying to catch up on my blogging. I think this is the longest time between posts in quite awhile. This was partly due to not having the photos on my desk top machine or on the tablet.
Time sure does fly!!

On my way back from Chicago, I went on a stitch day with my textile artist friend. We met up with some of her EAC (Embroidery Association of Canada) friends in Ingersoll at Stitch-it Central. This is a one stop shop for needlework supplies and patterns. You will also find yarns and knitting / crochet supplies, books and patterns as well as a selection of quilting cottons and quilt books. Live far away? They do mail order. Just contact the shop. If they don't have something in stock, they will try their best to get it for you.

The owners are very friendly and accommodating. The day we were there, the coffee pot was on and a large room (open to the shop) was set up for anyone who wanted to stitch. We had a wonderful day! Did we spend money - you bet we did!
Enjoy!
